Congratulations to seven young people who are motivated to change our world:
the winners of Barbara's Bakery first "Kress Awards."

These youths, aged seven to 17, entered our “I Changed the World” contest and showed us their individual actions of environmental stewardship, community action and passion. A distinguished panel of judges ruled these seven young people had the top ideas that won them cash awards dedicated to their educational savings. The winners also got a cool plaque honoring them for their creativity and community action.

Dr. Stephen Kress of Project Puffin inspired our “I Changed the World” contest in spring 2009. Dr. Kress’s stewardship and innovative ideas returned puffins to the historic nesting islands in the Gulf of Maine. Truly a “puffin dad,” Dr. Kress personally has nurtured hundreds of puffin chicks to adulthood. To find our more about Dr. Kress’ commitment to seabird conservation and his belief that humans have a responsibility to preserve and protect our planet’s creatures, visit Project Puffin.org.
